Announcing the 2020 Summerset Regatta
On October 2-4 the Caloosahatchee Marching and Chowder Society will be hosting our 55th Annual Summerset Sailing Regatta in the waters right off Ft Myers Beach.
This beautiful display of Sailboat Racing will offer excellent diversion from the Covid 19 Pandemic in Safe, Socially Distancing fashion! The Skipper of each boat will be in total control of the makeup of his Crew and there will be no Sanctioned Social Events.
Once again we are very excited to be hosting over Forty Sailboats from Naples, Marco Island, Punta Gorda, Cape Coral and Fort Myers. Traditionally we will have four to five different classes of sailboats that will do a series of Buoy Races on Saturday and Distance Races on Sunday.
The Pink Shell Marina, Moss Marina and Salty Sam’s Marina have all opened their arms offering Discounted Dockage to welcome the many boats from out of town for the weekend of Racing.
The schedule goes like this:
- – Friday Evening Oct 2 starts it off with Skippers picking up their Boat Bags containing Event T- Shirts, Sailing Instructions and Door Prizes at Bonita Bills on Fisherman’s Wharf from 4-7PM.
- – Buoy Racing starts on Saturday Morning Oct 3 at 10:00 near the San Carlos Light. You will be able to see the boats gathering and racing from many vantage points along the Beach from the Pier to the Lani Kai to the Diamond Head.
- – Racing continues on Sunday morning Oct 4 at 9:30 with Distance Racing.
– Awards will be presented at the CMCS Monthly Meeting at Cape Coral Yacht Club on Oct 20.
